About the Mthwakazi Republic Party (MRP)

The Mthwakazi Republic Party (MRP) is a revolutionary political movement founded on 11 January 2014 at the Bulawayo Presbyterian Church under the leadership of Revolutionary Leader and Chief-in-Command (CIC), Mqondisi Moyo. The Party was established as the organized political expression of the aspirations of the people of Mthwakazi for self-determination, justice, freedom, dignity, and national restoration.

MRP emerged from the conviction that the people of Mthwakazi have endured decades of political exclusion, economic marginalization, cultural suppression, and historical injustice. The movement was born to transform that suffering into an organized, disciplined, and peaceful revolutionary struggle dedicated to restoring the rights and dignity of our people.

The struggle of MRP is fundamentally a struggle for the right to self-determination. We affirm that the people of Mthwakazi, like all peoples under international law, possess the inherent right to freely determine their political future and to pursue their own economic, social, and cultural development. Our revolutionary mission is therefore to mobilize our people towards the peaceful realization of this right through democratic participation, political organization, international engagement, constitutional advocacy, and disciplined revolutionary action.

A defining wound in the history of Mthwakazi was the atrocities committed against innocent civilians between 1982 and 1987, during which thousands of people in Matabeleland and parts of the Midlands lost their lives, were subjected to torture, disappearances, unlawful detention, and displacement. MRP believes these atrocities remain an unresolved national tragedy whose consequences continue to affect generations of our people. There can be no genuine peace without truth, justice, accountability, acknowledgment, reparative measures, and meaningful national healing.

The revolutionary struggle did not end with those atrocities. The people of Mthwakazi continue to raise concerns about persistent political exclusion, economic neglect, underdevelopment, unequal distribution of national resources, unemployment, limited infrastructure investment, and the erosion of cultural and linguistic rights. MRP exists to challenge these conditions through peaceful democratic means and to build institutions that serve the people rather than oppress them.

Guided by the philosophy of Ubuntu-cracy, MRP believes that leadership is a sacred responsibility entrusted by the people. Governance must be founded upon justice, accountability, integrity, compassion, discipline, and service. Our revolution is not driven by hatred or vengeance; it is driven by the unwavering pursuit of freedom, justice, dignity, and the restoration of our nation.

MRP is committed to building a free, democratic, prosperous, and self-governing Mthwakazi where every citizen enjoys equal protection under the law, meaningful participation in governance, economic opportunity, and respect for their identity and heritage. Through grassroots mobilization, political education, policy development, community empowerment, diplomatic engagement, and revolutionary discipline, we continue to build a movement capable of achieving lasting national transformation.

The Mthwakazi Republic Party honours all those who have sacrificed for justice, freedom, and the future of our nation. We call upon every son and daughter of Mthwakazi to join this historic revolutionary mission and become an active participant in the peaceful restoration of our homeland.

Our struggle is not against any people; it is against injustice, oppression, and the denial of our fundamental rights. Our revolution is founded upon truth, justice, discipline, and the unshakable belief that the people of Mthwakazi have the right to determine their own destiny.
